“I Don’t Have Time Right Now” and “They’ll Figure It Out Later”: Why Discipleship Can’t Wait
In today's blog we continue talking about the 8 most common reasons parents don't disciple their children. Lets dive back in!
Objection 5: “I Don’t Have Time Right Now”
Every parent believes they’ll have more time in the next season—summer break, after sports, once work slows down. But that “free time” rarely comes.
If discipleship is a priority, it can happen right in the middle of your current schedule. Tie it to existing habits—praying at bedtime, reading Scripture at breakfast, or singing worship songs in the car.
Objection 6: “They’ll Figure It Out When They’re Older”
A child’s heart is like wet cement—soft and ready to receive impressions when they’re young. By the time they’re older, those impressions are much harder to change.
Research shows that a child’s worldview is often set by age seven. Early discipleship shapes their identity and beliefs before other influences take root.
Bottom Line:
The sooner you start, the easier it is to help your children develop a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.
