“I’m Not Spiritually Mature Enough” and “My Kids Are Too Young”: Why Every Parent Can Start Now

In today's blog we continue talking about the 8 most common reasons parents don't disciple their children. Lets dive back in!

Objection 3: “I’m Not Spiritually Mature Enough”

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to lead your kids in faith. In fact, discipling your children will grow your own spiritual maturity.

God isn’t asking you to have all the answers—He’s asking you to be faithful. You’re not the Word; you’re simply bringing your children to the Word.

Practical tip: Start with one Bible verse a day. Read it together and talk about what it means in simple terms.

Objection 4: “My Kids Are Too Young to Understand”

Babies learn an entire language in their first year—don’t underestimate what they can absorb spiritually. Even before they can fully grasp theology, they can recognize the love of God through your words, tone, and actions.

Early discipleship lays the foundation for trust in God. By introducing prayer, Scripture, and worship early, you prepare their hearts for a lifelong relationship with Him.

Bottom Line:

Don’t wait until “someday.” The habits you start now—no matter your child’s age—will shape their faith for years to come.
